This Privacy Policy explains how the Tinky: What's My Dog? mobile app ("Tinky", "we", "us") handles your information. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
Information we process
Photos you scan. When you take or select a photo, it is resized on your device and sent to our servers solely to identify the dog breed. We do not use your photos to identify you, and we do not sell them.
Website analytics. This website (tinky.dog) uses Google Analytics cookies to measure page visits and traffic sources. This is separate from the app.
Usage & diagnostics. We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to detect crashes (e.g. screens viewed, scan events, error reports).
Advertising identifiers. If you consent, our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may use device identifiers to show and measure ads.
How we use information
To identify dog breeds and return results, descriptions, and trait information.
To operate, maintain, and improve the app and fix problems.
To display advertising that helps keep the app free.
Advertising & consent
Tinky shows ads through Google AdMob. Where required (e.g. the EEA/UK), we present a consent form before personalized ads are served, and on iOS we request App Tracking Transparency permission. You can decline tracking and still use the app; you will simply see non-personalized ads. Learn more at Google's advertising policies.
Third-party services
We rely on the following providers, each with its own privacy policy: Supabase (image processing & storage), Google Firebase (analytics & crash reporting), Google AdMob (advertising), and Unsplash (illustrative breed photos).
Data retention
Scanned images are processed to generate a result and are not used to build a profile of you. Diagnostic and analytics data is retained only as long as needed to operate and improve the service.
Children
Tinky is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Manage ad tracking via your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
Decline or withdraw advertising consent at any time through the in-app consent options where available.
